“Game of Thrones” Secures 2 New Guinness World Records Titles

GOTHBO series “Game of Thrones,” won the best drama series for the second year in a row, at the 2016 Emmys.

Following its 12 wins out of 24 nominations, the popular fantasy epic has secured two new Guinness World Records titles for Most Emmy Awards for a fictional series and Most Emmy Awards for a drama series.

The show beat “The Americans,” “Better Call Saul,” “Downton Abbey,” “Homeland,” “House of Cards,” and “Mr. Robot” to win the best drama series for a second year in a row.

“Game of Thrones” currently has a total of 38 Emmys, making the show with the highest number of Emmy wins, a record previously held by “Frasier’ with 37 Emmys.

“Game of Thrones” premiered on TV on April 17, 2011, and has gone on to win various awards in its six years. It concluded its sixth season on June 26, 2016, and is set to return for its penultimate season in 2017.
