Eligibility: Highly motivated student who is enthusiastic about the prospect of driving forefront research in an in-ter disciplinary environment is encouraged to apply. A strong background in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology or informatics is an essential. Preliminary experience in cancer biology is considered advantageous, but not necessary. Good written and spoken English as well as the desire to work in a highly team-oriented environment are required.

Scholarship Description: The Institute of Biotechnology & Biomedicum Helsinki, University of Helsinki has position open for a PhD student to work on projects studying how the cellular information flow is altered in cancer. The project focuses on using quantitative proteomics (mass spectrometry) and computational methods (network analysis & modeling) to identify the molecular context and dynamics of cancer-linked proteins – both in cell culture models and in patient samples. The position is located at Varjosalo laboratory in the Institute of Biotechnology. BI is an independent research institute located at the Viikki Campus, where it forms part of the largest national life sciences alliance in Finland. The Institute provides excellent facilities to conduct interdisciplinary research in bio- chemistry and molecular biology.
