Warri Wolves' striker, Azuka Ebinum is sure to miss his side's Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Matchday 1 tie at Sharks in Port Harcourt on Saturday, March 9.
.
The severally postponed 2012/13 NPFL season is expected to commence this weekend.
.
Ebinum suffered a knee injury which kept him on the bench late last season while he used the whole of the off-season to get himself properly treated as well as regain his fitness.
.
However, the former Niger Tornadoes' forward said he will not want to rush back to the pitch immediately to avoid reversing the healing process.
.
"No, I won't feature against Sharks this weekend. I want to regain 100% match fitness before hitting the ground running. Maybe I should be ready by the Week Two or Three but that's the coach's decision to make.
.
"Truly I feel bad missing the season's opening match, no player will be happy over such development.
.
"We've been anxiously waiting for the season to start and now I'll be missing but there is nothing I can do rather than to wait to attain full match fitness. I'm fine and already training," he said.
.
The Warri Wolves' hitman said his side will grab full points at the Port Harcourt-based side.
.
"Yes, we're ready for the opener against Sharks. Three results are possible in football - either you win, draw or lose but we're going to Port Harcourt for a win or worst case pick a point," he said.
