Ogun State - Ogun takes bold step to bring governance closer to the people

 In acknowledgement of the fundamental roles which a two-way communication plays in entrenching responsive and responsible governance, the Ministry of Information and Strategy in Ogun State has finalized arrangements to establish a feedback system to enhance understanding between government and people of the State.     Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Alhaji Abdul Fatai Opebiyi who made this known in a statement today in Abeokuta, hinted that the programme tagged “Feedback Mechanism” is a way of bringing governance closer to the people.According to Opebiyi, the programme, taking off on Friday, March 1st 2013 would allow members of the public to relate with government on varied issues affecting their lives particularly those bordering on the five cardinal programme of the “Mission to Rebuild” agenda.     He added that it would also create an avenue for Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government to react to questions and issues raised and prompt action taken as the Ministry of Information would act as an intermediary of channeling communication between the two.On the mode of operations, the Permanent Secretary indicated that four dedicated telephone lines would be made available between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mondays to Fridays with which interested members of the public could phone in to air their views, make enquiries and offer suggestions. He affirmed that such would be channeled to relevant government agencies for response or action, pointing out when the caller calls back, he would be given a feedback.     The helplines according to him are 08172923777, 08082474292, 08103341344 and 07056966606
