Applications are invited for a fully-funded PhD research project 'Advanced ionization techniques for mass spectrometry' at the EPSRC National Mass Spectrometry Facility in Swansea University. Applicants should have, or expect to obtain, a first or upper second class BSc degree in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related subject. Candidates can apply till  7th June 2013.

Eligibility: 

-Applicants should have a first or upper second class BSc degree in physics, chemistry, biochemistry, or a closely related subject.

-Applicants should also be able to demonstrate extensive practical training in laboratory based work, or research through a final year research project, or equivalent industrial experience.

Scholarship Description: PhD Studentship is a fully-funded PhD research program 'Advanced ionization techniques for mass spectrometry' at the EPSRC National Mass Spectrometry Facility in Swansea University. The successful candidate will join a team of researchers in the National Mass Spectrometry Facility and the Institute of Mass Spectrometry in the College of Medicine, to develop next-generation ionisation techniques for application to suitable chemical samples submitted to the National Mass Spectrometry Facility.

What does it cover? 

UK students:

UK students are eligible for a full award, which covers the full cost of tuition fees, plus a stipend of £13,726 p.a.

EU students:

EU students who have been 'ordinarily resident' in the UK for 3 years prior to the start of the grant are eligible for a full award (stipend and fees). This means they must have been normally residing in the UK (apart from temporary or occasional absences).

EU students who are ordinarily resident in a member state of the EU are generally eligible for a fees-only award.
