Nigeria and Real Betis of Spain midfielder Nosa Igiebor may have incurred the wrath of his La Liga club after he failed to rejoin the club yesterday after the 2013 African Cup of Nations duty.
.
The 22-year-old was part of the Nigeria squad that triumphed in South Africa on Sunday, but the midfielder has, according to reports, stayed in his home country rather than return to his club.
.
Pepe Mel was expecting Nosa to be available for the game against Espanyol this weekend, and is likely to be fined heavily by the Verdiblancos.
.
Igiebor featured in the first two group matches of the Super Eagles at the Nations Cup. They were the 1-1 draws against eventual finalists, Burkina Faso and Zambia.
.
On return from the conquest of Africa, members of the senior national team were lavishly rewarded by the Federal government of Nigeria with President Goodluck Jonathan hosting the team at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock Abuja on Tuesday night.
.
During the Presidential reception, each member of the victorious Super Eagles was handed a cash reward of N5m by the President.
.
They were also bestowed with an honour of member of the order of the Niger, MON by the President for their outstanding performance at the African Mundial where Nigeria lifted the AFCON for the third time in history, having previously won the trophy in 1980 and 1994.
