Eligibility:

This student scholarship opportunity is only available to learners currently in Grade 6 and will provide them with the opportunity to attend one of the selected top high schools in South Africa.

-Finish Grade 6 in 2012

-Be very good at Maths and English

-Have a financial need

-Be a South African citizen

Scholarship Open for International Students: No

Scholarship Description: This student scholarship opportunity is only available to learners currently in Grade 6 and will provide them with the opportunity to attend one of the selected top high schools in South Africa. These scholarship students, known as Allan Gray Scholars, will receive funding that will take care of the cost of their tuition and hostel fees. In addition, these scholarship students will receive an additional allowance for travel, stationary, books, toiletries, school uniforms and civilian clothes. High school scholarship students will also have access to entrepreneurial as well as personal development programmes to ensure their continued progression as gifted students.

Important Documents:Certified copy of the learner's birth certificate or I.D. or passport Certified copy of the parent(s)/guardian(s) ID If the parent(s) have passed away, a copy of the Death Certificate(s) Certified copy of the learner's Grade 5 report received in December 2011 Certified copy of the learner's Grade 6 report received in June 2012 If the parent(s)/guardian(s) are employed, a certified copy of proof of income, such as payslips or an income statement, etc. of both parents/custodians If one or both of the parents/guardians are unemployed, an affidavit to prove unemployment and that states why and for how long they've been unemployed If one or both of the parents/guardians are on pension, an affidavit to prove pension income
