Governor Fashola reward Eagles with N30Million

The victorious Nigerian team to the just concluded 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa are 30million Naira richer courtesy of the Lagos State Government.

His Excellency, Governor Babatunde Fashola splashed the cash sums in appreciation to the players and officials of the Super Eagles, for winning the coveted trophy for the country for the third time.

This is coming just days after the Stephen Keshi tutored side were rewarded by the Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan who splashed a whooping 100 million Naira on the team at a special state reception held at the Government House in Asaba.

Speaking at the reception organized for the team at the Government House in Lagos, Governor Fashola hailed the Eagles performance which he said was borne of patriotism and commitment to nation. He however, expressed his displeasure over the interference by the football federation towards the team coach.

Governor Fashola also advised that the Nigeria Football Federation stop parading the team's dressing room during matches in other not to distract the team.

"The Federation members should not interfere with Stephen Keshi`s job at all because this will not help him in his rebuilding process.

"They should ensure they stop going to the team's dressing room during matches in other not to distract the coach and the players."

The Governor doled out the sum of N1million to the team players while the captain of the side, Joseph Yobo got N1.5 million.

Head coach, Stephen Keshi got N2.5 million while his first Assisant, Daniel Amokachi was given N2million. The other assistant coaches got N1.5million each.

The largesse also extends to the backroom staff who received a total sum of N15million while the Nigeria Football and Other Sports Supporters Club were given N4.5million.

The sum of N500 thousand was given for each goal scored by the team which amounted to N5.5million accounting for the eleven goals scored by the Eagles enroute winning the trophy.
