Nollywood Movies Awards to hold on June 2

A new platform, meant to recognise and reward deserving stakeholders in the Nigerian movie industry, aka 'Nollywood' through awards, has been announced.

Nollywood Movies, a 24 hour movie channel on the SKY Platform is set to launch the inaugural Nollywood Movies Awards which will celebrate 'excellence, outstanding achievements and diversity in the industry'.

According to a statement made available by organisers, the awards will celebrate both 'English speaking and indigenous talents with a nominees' party set to take place on May 5, 2012 at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria with the main awards ceremony on Saturday, June 2 at the Civic Centre also in Lagos, Nigeria'.

The awards cover a diverse range of activities involved in movie production including directing, acting, pre and post production.

Announcement of categories and nominees will be made at a press conference slated for Friday 27th April 2012 at the Lagos Ikeja Hotel (Best Western).

Nollywood Movies is a 24 Hour Movie channel on the SKY Platform Channel 329 based in the United Kingdom that was launched on January of 2008.
