PhD Holders Can Teach In Primary Schools – NTI DG

The Director-General of the National Teachers Institute (NTI), Kaduna, Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, said there was nothing wrong for a doctoral degree holder to take teaching appointment in a primary school.

He said the teaching profession in an ideal society was for well qualified individuals who are knowledgeable and skillful in their various fields.

According to him, a holder of NCE teaching in primary school should be from time to time upgrade himself on the job by going for further training to acquire higher certificates. "Or what is wrong in having a PhD holder being a primary school teacher?" he asked rhetorically.

He noted that the institute had introduced centres for teachers training in English as well as technical entrepreneurship and special education for all categories of persons.
