Vanguard holds Child rights conference

Every year, child labour and trafficking; two of the most prevalent abuses of children across the globe has led various child rights agencies, non-governmental organisations and virtually everyone with a heart to call on world governments to check the menace.

Vanguard newspaper in collaboration with the Lagos State Government and Centre for Black African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC) holds her 4th annual Vanguard Children's conference tomorrow.

A cross section of participants at the 2011 conference The conference with the theme, 'Child Abuse: Enforcing the child's rights for a peaceful nation' will hold at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, with the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Hon. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire as the Special guest of honour while Lagos state First Lady, Dame Abimbola Fashola is Mother of the Day,

Speakers include Justice William Dawodu; Lagos State  Family Court Judge on the topic 'Abuse: ways to seek redress'; Chief Mrs Adeyemi Oluwatayo,  Retired Chief Nursing Officer Lagos State University Teaching Hospital on 'Abuse: health implications and why reports must be made'; amongst others.

Over sixty schools and about 1000 students are expected at the event.
