JAMB 2014 CBT: JAMB Dispel Candidates’ Fear Over Missing Results

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has allay fears of candidates who sat for the 2014 computer base test (CBT) exam and are yet to received their result.

The board on Saturday said candidates who sat for the Computer Based Test (CBT) and were yet to receive their results should check the internet.

Mrs Ebere Okeke, Supervisor, Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) CBT centre, Lagos, reacting to complaints of missing results, Okeke said that wrong or incorrect GSM number might cause the delay or missing result.

The supervisor also said that in most cases, the delay could be caused by delay in processing of the result or network problem, but noted that it was nothing to worry about.

She said that the problem might also be caused by individual negligence and candidates who did not carefully fill their numbers during registration.

Okeke said that the CBT mode was devoid of missing results, adding that the computers will mark immediately the candidates start writing the examination.

She said that candidates who sat for the CBT examination would receive their results within 48 hours through their phone Short Message Service (SMS).

According to Okeke, during registration, candidates fill GSM numbers that the results of their examination will be sent to, but some candidates submit wrong numbers in the process.

"Some candidates are experiencing delay or have not received their results because they submitted wrong or incorrect GSM numbers.
.
"Some candidates have either misplaced their numbers or changed them as such, the computer could not deliver the result after the examination.
.
"With CBT, there is no problem of missing result, any candidate having problem with his or her result should be blamed.
.
"If a candidate does not go through the verification process or thumb print is rejected, the machine will automatically mark the person absent.
.
"If a candidate uses wrong registration number or GSM number on the result checker, the result may be missing.
.
"There is a very slim possibility that candidates will have problem with their results if they follow all guidelines," she said.

Okeke, however, said that if a candidate. did not receive the result through SMS, such candidate should write to the JAMB office closest to his location.

She said that the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was successful at the YABATECH centre.

Okeke said that the process was hitch. free throughout the two – week period of the examination.

The server, internet, computers and power supply were in perfect conditions during the examination.

"The team we have here is wonderful, the networking system and human resources all worked together; the management of the institution also gave us all the support and assistance we need.
.
"CBT is the answer to all JAMB associated problems in the old method; there is no tension, no fighting like in the past and everywhere is peaceful.
.
"It is no longer war during examination, the candidates are calm and will perform better than in the past," she said.

A candidate, Miss Esther Aderanti, said that the CBT process was less tasking unlike the paper-pencil mode.

Aderanti urged JAMB to perfect the process to ensure smooth take-off by 2015.

Another candidate, Divine Youngman, said that the process was much easier than the shading mode.
.
"I love the sitting arrangement of the hall, everywhere is cool and I can concentrate," Youngman said.
