NBC boosts technical service, graduates over 420

Over 420 persons have benefitted from the Nigerian Bottling Company Limited's technical training for trainee technician, including 17 newly certified technicians.

The 17 graduands have been offered immediate full time employment by the company. Additionally, fifteen employees from the Engineering department from all NBC plants graduated as Automation Specialists having completed a 10 weeks intensive training program.

The Technical Training Centre was established on March 1, 1996 , in response to the dearth of competent Technicians in the industry and to enhance the skills of existing technical staff through routine training and re-skilling sessions in a rapidly changing industry. Through these training programmes, the renowned centre produces proficient and multi-skilled technicians who are able to meet and sustain production targets efficiently and effectively.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony which was held at NBC Ikeja Plant, Segun Ogunsanya, Managing Director of the company, said that the Technical Training Centre is indicative of the company's commitment to investing in the development of young Nigerians whilst in the pursuit of solutions for its business operations.

"NBC is committed to improving the quality of education in the country and also providing skilled manpower. Currently, about 20 of the Technical Training Centre graduates are in Managerial positions within and outside the company.

SON, ARSO commend Chikki noodles

The African Organization for Standardization (ARSO) and the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) have commended the standard of facilities and production process of the Chikki Foods Industries plant in Ikorodu, Lagos, layings further credence to the industry opinion that Chikki noodles is a frontline player among its peers in Nigeria.

This was disclosed after the ARSO team visited Chikki Foods Industries factory in Ikorodu at the end of the19th ARSO General Assembly held in Lagos recently.

According to Mr. Philip Okungu, a standardization expert from Kenya who was the official representative of ARSO, the hygienic environment and advanced processing facilities, stand Chikki apart. He also commended the management of Chikki Foods for maintaining such high standards and urged other firms to emulate the processing and facilities standards of Chikki industry limited.

Also speaking at the occasion, Mrs. T.N. Ojomo who represented the Director General of SON, expressed elation that such high accolades are coming to a Nigerian managed company; and reiterated the commitment of SON towards supporting Nigerian firms like Chikki Foods in setting world class standards in their operations.

In his remark, the Managing Director of Chikki Foods Limited, Chief Emma Orizu reaffirmed the commitment of Chikki Foods Industries Limited to keep offering Nigerian consumers top quality products that meet their nutritional and other needs. He commended their customers for their patronising the product and making it their premier choice among noodles.

Orizu also stated that the visit of the ARSO delegation has opened up a lot of export business opportunities for Chikki Foods Limited, and made it clear that the company is ready to expand their operations and investments in viable and stable economies in the continent.
