NCC arrests six persons over sale of pre-registered SIM cards

In continuation of its efforts to rid the society of illegal sales of pre-registered SIM cards, the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) has arrested six dealers of pre-registered GSM SIM cards worth over N1 million in Minna, the Niger state capital.

The NCC Head of Enforcement unit who is the Principal Manager of Enforcements, Mallam Salisu Abdu who disclosed this in an interview said the enforcement team had earlier visited; Kogi, Kwara, Nasarawa and Benue states where about 11 suspected dealers were earlier arrested and handed over to the police.

The recent visit to the Obasanjo shopping complex and arrest of the suspects, Mallam Salisu said brings to 17 the number of dealers of pre-registered GSM SIM Cards so far arrested in the last one week from about five states in the zone so far visited by the commission to enforce the ban on sale of pre-registered SIM cards across the country.

Salisu gave the names of those arrested on Thursday as Abdullahi Usman, Murtala Lawoli, Shuaibu Bala, Ibrahim Atiku, Murtala Yahaya and Abu Sule just as he explained that the arrest of people selling pre-registered SIM cards is a continuous exercise.
