A news website, elombah.com, says the kidnappers of Prof. Kamene Okonjo, the mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, have reduced their ransom demand from N1 billion to N200 million.
The website also claims that the kidnappers have demanded the resignation of the minister as a condition for the release of hermother.
The report claims that the fresh demands were the outcome of the latest negotiations between the victim's family and the kidnappers on Wednesday.
The alleged demands could not be independently confirmed at the time of posting this update.
However, PUNCH sent a enquiry to the minister's spokesman, Mr. Paul Nwabuikwu, for a response to the alleged demands.
The enquiry sent via Facebook was not answered at the time of the report.

Two policemen and an unidentified civilian have so far been arrested in connection withthe incident.
