Contractors Handling State Projects Must Not Leave Project Site Until Work Is Completed – Funkekeme

Worried by the non-compliance of contract agreements which have affected the pace of work on the projects and work efficiency, Delta State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, read out five policy statements of his Ministry to erring contractors, saying no contractor handling public projects must leave project site until the work is completed.

Hon, Funkekeme, who read out the policy statement during his meeting with contractors handling State Government’s projects across the State, stressed the importance of working effectively at project sites according to contract agreement to avert the State government’s sledge hammer.

The State Government, he said, is not comfortable with the snail pace of on-going projects by some contractors, adding that the Ministry will no longer tolerate acts which go against contract agreement..

According to him, any issue affecting contractors, whether on payment or communal problem that would result to leaving the project site, should be tabled before him for amicable solution adding that the contractors must work as a team with the Ministry  for easy realization of the Delta State goal.

He urged contractors handling multiple projects to also provide multiple working teams, mobilize more men and equipment to increase the pace of work, adding that every contractor must have a special team, equipped with functioning equipment at project sites. To ensure compliance of contract agreement and work efficiency, Funkekeme said that he has directed his Engineers across the State to monitor the daily list of contractors’ performance at their project sites and send to his Asaba office.
