The legislature had ordered that the governor be served an impeachment notice signed by 20 out of its 24 members on Monday.
They also alleged that the governor misappropriated and misapplied funds in the joint account and Local Government Sure-P Fund just as he was also accused of transferring local government SURE-P funds to a fixed deposit account.
The Assembly also alleged that the governor spent N13, 295, 000.00 on his wife’s trips to Abuja.
These offences, the lawmakers said, were a gross violation of Section 162 (7 and 8) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
They asked the governor to clear himself of the allegations.
Al-Makura has denied any wrongdoing, with his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, accusing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, which dominates the State House of Assembly and the Presidency of being behind the impeachment plot.
