He said that the upcoming general polls would not split the country as Nigerians were becoming more patriotic and yearning for good governance.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the theme of the Solemn Assembly is “It is a Good Thing to Give Thanks unto the Lord”.
The governor maintained that the God who brought the country together did not make a mistake.
He warned those making inciting statements ahead of the forthcoming general elections to desist from such so that they would not incur the wrath of God.
“I plead with Nigerians to seek peace and love one another according to the dictates of the Almighty God.
“This shows that it has nothing to do with ethnic or religious affiliations but the will of God”, he said.
On a valedictory note, Akpabio expressed optimism that his successor would continue with the yearly ritual of taking the state to God in the beginning of every year to keep the state in accordance with the word of God.
