Mourinho Can Have No Excuses About Fixture Pile-Ups – Peter Bosz

Ajax coach Peter Bosz says Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho can have no excuses about fixture pile-ups going into the Europa League final.

Mourinho has often complained this season about United being at a disadvantage to their Premier League rivals given their participation in the Europa League and EFL Cup success.

Mourinho has highlighted how Ajax will have had 10 days’ rest before the Europa League final on May 24, with United’s last Premier League fixture just three days before the clash in Stockholm.

However, Bosz says that given United’s squad, they are not at a disadvantage to his Ajax side.

“If I only look at his lineups and team formations all season, then he is playing with almost two different teams — one team for the Europa League and one for the Premier League,” Bosz told Ajax’s official website, which describes Mourinho as having “mastered psychological warfare.”

“If those boys, which he is using for his European games, are not playing at the weekend in the Premier League, they have as much rest and exactly the same preparation time as my players — and look at the amount of players he has available to rotate.”

United go into the Europa League final as favourites, but Bosz says his young Ajax side — nine of the matchday squad are often under 21 — fear nobody.

“If I say that this is going to be a normal game now, people will laugh because it really isn’t a normal game at all anymore,” he said. “But my Ajax boys, no matter how young they are, won’t be afraid.

“They have played massive games this season. Come and see a game against Feyenoord. Look what we did against Schalke in the Europa quarterfinal [scoring twice with 10 men in the second leg to win 4-3 on aggregate]. All that experience we take with us to Stockholm.”
