A commercial adult worker in Bayelsa State has sold a baby girl she just gave birth to for N20,000 at the Ovom suburb of Yenagoa, the state’s capital city.

The day-old child was sold to a family in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Vanguard reports, citing police sources.

It was learnt that the worker operates around the popular red light district of Ovom along the D.S.P. Alamieyeseigha area, in the state capital.

Bayelsa State Police Command spokesperson, Mr. Alex Akhigbe confirmed the incident, saying investigation into the incident traced the family involved in the baby sale to Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

“Though the details of the investigation are sketchy, the special unit of the police is on its way to effect the recovery of the baby and arrest the family that bought the child,” Akhigbe said.
