Highline Community College is offering academic scholarships to US students for one Quarter. Students who will be attending full-time (taking at least 12 credits) at Highline Community College in the fall of 2014 and who have a minimum high school or college GPA of 3.5 or better are eligible for these scholarships. Up to fifteen applicants will receive a 15-credit tuition waiver for Fall Quarter 2014. Application should be submitted till August 7, 2014.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded to learn any of the courses.

Course Level: Scholarships are available for attending full-time (taking at least 12 credits) at Highline Community College.

Eligibility:

-Students who will be attending full-time (taking at least 12 credits) at Highline Community College in the fall of 2014,

and who have a minimum high school or college GPA of 3.5 or better.

-Previous recipients may apply. (No student may receive more than two overall, however.) Greater consideration will be given

to new applicants.

-Running Start students, non-resident students and international students are not eligible.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Students of USA can apply for these academic scholarships.

Scholarship Description: Scholarships are one way to help cover costs of education. Scholarships vary in size and application requirements. Unlike loans, they do not have to be repaid. The scholarship application process is separate from the application for federal and state financial aid. Students can search for scholarships year round and deadlines are scattered throughout the year.

Number of award(s): Up to fifteen academic scholarships are offered.

Duration of award(s): These scholarships will be awarded for one Quarter.

What does it cover? Fifteen applicants will receive a 15-credit tuition waiver for Fall Quarter 2014.

Selection Criteria: Selection will be based upon your essay, cumulative grade point, etc.

Notification: Winning applicants will be notified of their status by email by Thursday, September 4, 2014.

How to Apply: Applicants should apply by post. Submit the following:

-This form, filled in with your information.

-Separate pages with answers to the following. These should be typed and double-spaced. Make sure your name is on each page submitted.

-Part I— Describe in a hundred words or less, your educational goal(s) here at Highline and in the years beyond.

-Part II—List honors, scholarships, and awards given for academic and technical accomplishments. Please select

and list only what you consider to be your top five awards, beginning with the most important.

-Part III—Describe in an essay one specific educational experience (a class, an assignment, an interaction with an administrator, instructor or staff person) which truly transformed the way you thought about learning, and possibly about your own future. Essay should not exceed one page in length; if it does, your application will not be judged.

A copy of your transcript, reflecting grades from your most recent school experience. Unofficial is acceptable. Please include transcript from previous college/university if applicable. (Be sure your cumulative GPA is displayed on your HCC transcript; check to be sure your cumulative grade info has not been cut off at the sides or bottom of the page, if you print out an unofficial copy.) If you do not submit a transcript you will be disqualified.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The application deadline is August 7, 2014.
