Oyster, the latest startup to offer subscription access to books much the way Netflix does for movies, launched its app for the iPhone (http://gigaom.com/2013/09/05/oyster-netflix-for-ebooks/) today. Subscribers can browse more than 100,000 e-book titles for $9.95 a month, although most of the big publishers aren't participating and the service offers few new bestsellers. The e-books startup is currently invite-only.
