PhD Positions in Cognitive Neuroscience in Hamburg, Germany

The Department of Neurophysiology and Pathophysiology (Head: Prof. Dr. Andreas K. Engel) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany) invites applications for a PhD student position, starting APRIL or MAY 2010.

The PhD student will conduct studies on unisensory and multisensory processing of auditory and audiovisual information in cochlear-implant users. The project incorporates advanced psychophysical measurements as well as EEG and MEG recordings. The project will be conducted in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Andrej Kral from the Medical University Hannover.

Main research interests of the Department of Neurophysiology are the dynamics of distributed sensory processing, intermodal and sensorimotor integration, as well as theories of perception, action and consciousness. Current projects in humans involve EEG and MEG studies.

Applicants should have a background in psychology, medicine, biology or neuroscience. Experience in human EEG studies or biosignal analysis is desirable.
