Stockholm University is offering 4 PhD student positions in Organic Chemistry at the Department of Organic Chemistry. PhD positions are financed by grants during 2014 and from 2015 employment as doctoral students. The duration of the position is about four years. EU and Non EU applicants will be eligible for this PhD positions. GRE, IELTS, TOEFL scores will be required. Application deadline is November 20, 2013.

Study Subject (s): The positions are within the following areas:

-Selective Synthesis, Asymmetric Catalysis and Sustainable/Green Chemistry

- C-H functionalization tactics for life sciences

- Metal-free synthetic organic chemistry

-Synthesis of Metal Complexes for Artificial Photosynthesis

Course Level: This position is for pursuing PhD at Stockholm University in Sweden.

Eligibility: -For admission the candidates should have approved the advanced level examination (for example M.Sc.), completed at least 240 credits of course requirements, of which at least 60 credits of advanced level, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge either locally or abroad.

-Particularly desirable is good knowledge of organic chemistry and general basic subjects of relevance for the researching studies. (A full academic year corresponds to 60 credits).

-For non EU residents a GRE test is required.

-Proficiency in English, for non-native English speaking applicants should be demonstrated in one of the following ways: * IELTS score (Academic) of 6.0 or more (with none of the sections scoring less than 5.0) * TOEFL score of 550 or more (computer based test 213, internet based 79) * Cambridge/Oxford – Advanced of Proficiency level * If the language of instruction for the M.Sc. degree was English, a certificate on this may prove the proficiency in English.

Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: EU and Non EU applicants are eligible for this PhD research student position.

Scholarship Description: The Department of Organic Chemistry has an extensive research program. This research program covers many areas of experimental and theoretical chemistry including metal catalysis, asymmetric synthesis, as well as several areas of bio organic chemistry such as carbohydrate chemistry, nucleotide chemistry and enzyme chemistry. The overall duration of doctoral studies should not be longer than the equivalent four year. The department may require that PhD students also participate in teaching (assistant-level up to 20 % of full-time). The studies should be started between January 1, 2014 and May 1, 2014.
