Job Title: IT Storage/Backup Administrator
Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Reports to: Head, Information and Technology

Job Objective: Support business continuity by providing data consistency and integrity

Key Tasks / Responsibilities   
1.   Storage/Backup Administrator will be responsible for design, installation, setup, and administration of current and future storage systems in a 24x7x365 environment
2.   The Administrator will work with team members including infrastructure engineers, data base administrators, software development engineers and business liaisons to obtain data and storage requirements and deliver solutions
3.    The engineer will demonstrate an ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and thorough with primary responsibilities to include the storage area network (SAN) environment with secondary responsibilities for tape backup / archive storage configuration and maintenance
4.   Capacity planning and implementation of SAN infrastructure
5.   Performance monitoring,  troubleshooting proactive support analysis
6.   Manage and support Tape Library system in a SAN environment
7.   Support VMWare infrastructure
8.   Use and support of data enterprise backup systems
9.   Work with infrastructure owners to test and verify data archives
10.   Schedule backup jobs based on documented procedures and schedules
11.   Develop refine backup procedures and policy

OTHER DUTIES
1.   DBA support Oracle Database SW environments plus UNIX Sys Admin
2.   Provide DBA support in a heterogeneous environment that includes Oracle products on Linux and MSSQL on Windows and MySQL on Linux
3.   Work closely with the Head, IT team to define a and implement standard practices for our UNIX environment and users
4.   Establishing user access controls and providing database security
5.   Day-to-day proactive monitoring, including monitoring error logs, database and log space, user activity, and resource utilization
6.   Monitoring and tuning system performance
7.   Database backup and recovery
8.   Creating scripts to automate database maintenance procedures and generate system reports
9.   Create scripts to automate system administration duties
10.   Creating and implementing best practices guidelines and policies
11.   Capacity planning
12.   Perform UNIX systems audit

1.   Number of storage and database  service outage unrelated to power, Physical damage or planned Change
2.   Number of unresolved assigned issues
3.   Number of missed backups unrelated to power and planned Change
4.   Proactive monitoring of database, UNIX and storage systems
Reporting and Documentations: (20%)
1.   Accurately document assigned issues
2.   Provide weekly and timely feedback to Manager
Policy and procedure implementation: (15%)
1.   Number of Changes without authorization
2.   Number of uncompleted Incident Reports
3.   Change procedure violation

Key knowledge Areas and Skills Required   
1.   Minimum of three years experience as a SAN Administrator with at least two years supporting a highly available 24x7 production environments.
2.   Knowledge of NetApp storage devices
3.   Familiar with storage tiers and virtualization
4.   Ability to configure and manage Brocade Silkworm switches
5.   Knowledge of HBAs configuration on UNIX, Windows and Linux Server
6.   Ability to plan and configure storage space and make it available to Windows and Linux servers
7.   Experience with enterprise backup solutions
8.   Knowledge of Virtual Server infrastructure
9.   Demonstrated history of superior customer service
10.   Professional demeanour appropriate for mature enterprise.
11.   Willing to work Long hours and sometimes weekends
12.   Knowledge of Shell or Perl scripting.
13.   Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks in parallel and prioritize between them.
14.   Excellent communication and technical presentation skills.
15.   Ability to work with minimal supervision.
16.   Excellent teamwork. Candidate must be proactive and solution-oriented.
17.   Strong documentation skills

Qualification/Experience Requirement:
1.   Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
2.   SNIA or vendor storage certifications from HP, EMC, Hitachi, StorageTek, Sun or NetApp strongly preferred.
3.   Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
4.   3 Years minimum experience in architecting and engineering enterprise class storage solutions in a distributed environment.
5.   Minimum 3+ years of database administration (DBA) experience on Unix platforms
6.   Experience with Oracle 10g, 9i or 8i is preferred
7.   Experience with Oracle on Windows platform is a strong plus
8.   Strong understanding of RDBMS and Unix Operating System fundamentals is required
9.   Perl/sh/csh/ksh scripting skills are essential
10.   Knowledge of awk and sed UNIX utilities is huge plus
11.   Unix system administration experience, preferably Solaris and Linux, is highly desirable
12.   Working knowledge of TCP/IP Networking is required. Solid knowledge of major Unix-based networking services and protocols (NIS, NFS, Automounter/Autofs) is essential
13.   Exposure to integrated Unix-Windows environment with working knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 server and Microsoft Networking is a strong plus
14.   SQL Server experience is a bonus
15.   2 Years minimum working in a Systems Administrator related role on Solaris and Windows Server Systems
16.   3 Years minimum supporting storage design and recovery solutions for multiple large database installations
17.   2 Years Supporting Re Hat or other Enterprise Linux Systems
18.   Experience with VMWare Virtual infrastructure
