Curtin University is inviting application for Higher Degree by Research Postgraduate Scholarship. Two postgraduate scholarships are available for either an MPhil or PhD scholar who wishes to undertake research in motor control aspects of the lower limb following central or peripheral injuries. The duration of the award for a MPhil will be for up to one and a half years and PhD will be for up to three and a half years based on full time enrollment. The application deadline is 20 July 2014. Scholarship Provider: Curtin University, Australia Scholarship can be taken at: Australia Eligibility: -A plan to enroll and commence MPhil or PhD studies full-time at Curtin university in 2014 or early 2015 (plans for part-time study will be considered on an individual basis); -Have a prerequisite academic record allowing automatic entry to a Masters or PhD candidature; -Have a degree that will facilitate the research project with a background in Rehabilitation, Physiotherapy, Sports Sciences, Exercise sciences, Neurosciences, Biomechanics or Engineering (appropriate for the field of research). -Experience or interest in motion analysis, motor control and learning or motion analysis (EMG, kinetics or kinematics). -Have a demonstrable commitment to professional development, education and research activities; -Have a demonstrable commitment to the dissemination of knowledge, competencies in communications, networking and independent drive. Scholarship Open for International Students: New Zealand and Australia students can apply for these scholarships. Scholarship Description: Two postgraduate scholarships are available for either a MPhil (1.5 year award) or PhD (3.5 year award) scholar who wishes to undertake research in motor control aspects of the lower limb following central (neurological) or peripheral (soft, connective tissue) injuries. The focus of the research considered under this scholarship scheme will be on lower limb motor control, joint stiffness, power production, proprioception and responses to specific therapies (including exercise and therapies) in normal subjects and specific diagnostic groups. Number of award(s): Two scholarships will be offered. Duration of award(s): The duration of the award for a MPhil will be for up to one and a half years and PhD will be for up to three and a half years based on full time enrolment.  This award will be reviewed every 12 months and continuation of the award after the first 12 months is subject to obtaining satisfactory progress report and successful milestone. What does it cover? The award shall provide a living allowance of between $25,000 – $30,000 per annum tax free for full time enrolment or $10,000 – $15,000 per annum taxable for part time enrolment.  Please note part time award will be considered on a case by case basis. Individuals who hold other scholarships or Fellowships are eligible to apply for this scholarship as a top up. If successful the top up scholarship will provide a stipend of between $10,000 – $15,000 per annum tax free based on full time enrolment.
