Job Title: Legal Officer
Location: Abuja
Recruiter: Ace Human Resources Consulting

Responsibilities:
Legal Officer shall mainly assist in the execution of the company's legal department's activities relating to litigation, dispute resolution, review and documenting
documents and to ensure the achievement of compliance with governance policies.

S/he shall:
o Advice the company in the best interest on matters of corporate compliance and governance, corporate and project finance, civil, criminal, contractual matters
o Prepare draft legal documents, research and advice on all property and site activities including mergers, acquisitions, leases or rentals.  Arrange for timely execution and renewal of all title and property documents.
o Assist in the formulation and implementation of corporate policies and regulations across the companies within the group. Prepare management and board meetings minutes, resolutions and other deliverables required.
o Represent the company in court. Monitor assigned cases and submit briefs to the company management. Monitor and review new legislation and advice on how it may affect the corporate governance of the company.
o Maintain statutory books, including registers, directors and secretaries of all companies within the group. Deal with correspondence from regulators, registrars, advisers and, filing statutory returns, collating information and writing reports as needed.
o Provide guidance regarding contractual agreements with suppliers, partners, and customers while ensuring that the company's rights and interests are safeguarded at all times.
o Assist in drawing up the department's work plans and ensuring adherence. Assist in the compilation/preparation of relevant statutory returns.

Minimum Job Requirements:
•   5 years of litigation experience or performance in a similar position.
•   In-depth experience and knowledge of the Nigerian Legal, corporate and commercial law as it relates to petroleum and allied services.
•   Deep understanding of legal procedures and functions. Excellent written and oral communication.
•   High level of integrity and demonstrated ability to manage confidential information.
•   High sense of responsibility, accountability and dependability. A good Law degree from a reputable university.
•   Must have been called to Bar.
•   High level of computer literacy.
•   Detail oriented.
