Role Summary/Purpose: The Commodity Leader needs to demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for GE Africa. In this role you will use your experience and expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and affect short-term and long-term business goals across the Sub Sahara region.

Essential Responsibilities:

Lead the indirect commodity strategy for a min of $5M in indirect spend in order to achieve deflation, cash flow, and controllership goals. Lead the supplier selection, qualification, development, and overall supplier management, including managing the entire contract life cycle from Request for Proposal to supplier exit including:

•   Manage supplier contracts, supply agreements, and e-auctions with preferred suppliers to ensure that market trends, supplier performance, and future business needs are aligned

•   Develop and execute long term global commodity strategies for a moderate group of suppliers, with varying levels of complexity

•   Develop competitive negotiations to drive deflation with the global supply base, while meeting capacity and quality requirements

•   Lead the evaluation and selection of new suppliers, development of existing suppliers, and overall supplier management

•   Define and drive use of preferred suppliers plus develop alternate sources to reduce single and sole sources

•   Interacts with site teams to understand business needs and develop supply chain strategies that optimize total requirements

•   Collaborate with supporting resources (engineering, quality, global supply chain, and regional teams) to achieve plan, ensure adequate cycle time to procure material and services, and escalate critical materials from supplier base to meet customer demands

•   Develop technical and market expertise in commodity area

•   Create and enforce business policies to meet business targets and customer needs, including improving procurement processes and optimizing Sourcing resources to enhance the customer experience with Sourcing

•   Closely monitor supplier performance to plan and work with the suppliers to manage any required recovery plans / actions

•   Hold regular reviews with suppliers

•   Conduct Capacity Audits; track any Red Flags that impede supplier performance and control revisions at Suppliers

•   Ensure any quality issues have the appropriate focus

•   Develop process to look upstream for pending requirements to ensure sourcing given adequate cycle to procure material

•   Proactively support GPB, SII, Session T and other strategic business planning.

•   Coordinate identification and standardization of process, equipment, training and skill requirements

•   Drive process and operational optimization at suppliers to meet fulfillment targets

•   Drive sourcing initiatives (fulfillment, cost productivity, lead times, capacity, digitization, quality)

•   Overall responsibility for buyers

•   Responsible for driving country level process improvements and simplification in partnership with the Strategic Initiatives team

•   Act as the single Sourcing point of contact for the assigned country/sub-region

•   Communicate at all levels of a matrix organization on implementation status

Qualifications/Requirements:

•   Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited college university

•   Minimum of 8 years in Global Supply Chain and or operational roles

•   Minimum of 2 years of project management experience

•   Knowledge of GE Oil & Gas, Power & Water products and services

•   Demonstrated ability to work with internal and external customers

•   Strong project management skills

•   Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

•   Willingness and ability to travel regionally and globally

•   Minimum: Green Belt Certified

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

•   Bachelor degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university

•   Knowledge of manufacturing and repair processes and practices of multiple GE products

•   Expertise of preparing engineering specifications and procedures for product manufacturing and repair

•   Experience in supplier development, qualification practices and tools

•   Working knowledge of GE Sourcing processes & practices
