Job Description : 2 post doc positions available in 2010.

position 1: estimating regional water stress from MODIS data (PRI, WSI etc...) at the regional level in mediterranean areas and coupling with regional simulation of water stress based on soil/plant water models. Region of interest is the mediterranean basin. the post doc will be based at CEFE/CNRS, Montpellier for a 2 year period with a grant finance by european project FUME (Fires under climate and socio economic changes in the mediterranean basin). additional knowledges in climate geostatistics, land use change models are welcome.

Position 2: Ecophysiological functionning of mediterranean shrublands under extreme drought. The candidate will have to explore different aspect of vegetation functionning under a rainfall interception experiement installed in Tunisia on a maquis shrubland (soil water content, leaf predawn water potential, soil respiration, root dynamic, stem elongation, leaf photosynthesis, stomatal conductance....). measurements will be performed before a fire on a mixed shrubland and after the fire for seed germinations and resprouters.
