General Purpose

  Act as communications lead for Nokia in West Africa through strategic media   outreach, both traditional and social media, as well as execution of employee   communications campaigns and activities.[/td][/tr][tr][td]Job DescriptionExternal communications: Overall ownership for the   development, execution and measurement of strategic external communication   planning for West Africa (including messaging, press events and trips, activities,   media outreach and social media campaign management).Job also requires an   in-depth understanding of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter   and blogs and the ability to design and implement communications campaigns   utilizing these channels effectively as well as creating impactful messages   for use in these new media.Communications Manager works closely with the Vice   President/General Manager for West Africa and the entire West Africa team to   understand the business objectives and environment and to align   communications strategies and tactics in support of agreed priorities while   also supporting Nokia's global communications objectives. Acts as strategic   counsel to the VP and helps the team identify trends, challenges and   opportunities through the media. Drives visibility and thought leadership for   Nokia in the region. Establishes and maintains positive relationships with   key stakeholders (internal, agencies, traditional and social media) to   achieve business objectives. Creates relevant feedback channels and provides   summarized feedback to key stakeholders through meetings, monthly reporting,   event debriefs, etc. Manages short-term budget for dealing with projects,   events and external consultants by following Nokia financial planning and   management process and full compliance.Employee communications: Responsible for the on-ground   execution of employee communications which include contributing to the   established channels such as newsletter, as well as employee events and   awareness campaigns. Works closely with India Middle East and Africa comms   team, as well as the General Manager and Human Resources on ensuring   effective communications for employees. Also supports the general manager   with regards to team building, team updates and morale building.[/td][/tr]
[/table]QualificationsRequirements

West African national, English first language. Typically 6-9 years relevant experience, preferably in a PR agency or a communications role within a multi-national organization within the technology or consumer goods space. Must have proven track-record in media relations and strong knowledge of local media landscape.

Degree or relevant communications diploma. Must speak fluent English. French would be useful but not critical.

Needs to be passionate, proactive and able to work without constant supervision and have high level of accountablility for tasks. Needs to be able to build strong networks and manage stakeholder engagement at senior levels of the organization.
