Palestine has one of the highest percentages in the Arab world and among developing countries in terms of enrollment in education institutions. There has been a growth in the education system and has steadily improved for both male and female students. The Ministry of Education has created, and implemented new curricula for the improvement in the education sector to make possible for its students to continue their studies. Along with this, many international organizations and universities are also offering scholarships for Palestinians to pursue their higher studies. Students of Palestine are also greeted in various prominent international organizations and universities like HESPAL, DAAD etc. These scholarships and grants help in taking a step ahead in boosting up the education system in Palestine. Below are some international scholarships available for the students of Palestine.

Higher Education Scholarships for Palestinian (HESPAL), 2014 (http://www.britishcouncil.org/ps-education-scholarships-hespal.htm)

HESPAL is offering scholarship for Palestinians to pursue higher education in various areas. Applicant must be currently employed by the Palestinian university which nominates her/him, which must be one of the participating Palestinian universities. This will upgrade junior academic staff in Palestinian universities through a Masters Scholarship programme. Ninteen Scholarships are awarded to Palestinian universities in the West Bank and Gaza. The application deadline is 31st January, 2014.

Ameen Rihani Scholarship Program, 2014 (http://www.ameenrihani.org/index.php?page=scholarship)

The Ameen Rihani Scholarship (ARS) is designed for undergraduates to study in the areas of literature, philosophy, or political science. Applicants must have attained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale. Selected candidate will receive a one-time $1,500 scholarship, along with selected books from Rihani's works. Applications for this scholarship will be accepted throughout the period of January 1 through March 15 of each year for the fall of that year.

DAAD Scholarships for Masters, 2014 (https://www.daad.de/westbank_gaza/scholarships.html#MastersScholarshipstoJordan)

The scholarship programme has been announced by DAAD for master level.  The scholarship is open for Palestinian graduates in M.A/M.Sc. program. Student must have scored minimum 80% scores in B.A/B.Sc. The application deadline for the scholarship is 28th August, 2014.

Law Fellowship for Palestinian, 2014-2015 (http://www.columbia.edu/cu/palestine/about/fellowships.html)

The Center for Palestine Studies at Columbia University has announced "Palestine & Law" Fellowship for the 2014-2015 academic year. Applications from Palestine are concerned with a diverse range of backgrounds, traditions and scholarly interests. Applicants should hold a law degree, PhD, or similar qualification. The Fellow will receive a modest living stipend plus benefits, library access and office space. The application deadline is 3rd February, 2014.

The Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Award in Palestine Studies, 2014 (http://www.columbia.edu/cu/palestine/about/fellowships.html)

The Center for Palestine Studies at Columbia University's Middle East Institute is pleased to announce Ibrahim Abu-Lughod Award, a postdoctoral fellowship for Palestinian students. The one-semester fellowship carries a stipend of $25,000 and the status of post-doctoral research fellow or visiting scholar at Columbia University. The Fellow may not hold any other major fellowship or teaching obligations during the award period. The application deadline is 15th February, 2014.

The EU (European Commission/DG Education and Culture) is offering various scholarships for postgraduates in Europe. Scholarship is open for European Neighbourhood Policy countries like Algeria, Palestine, Libya, Egypt etc. The final decisions on admission and scholarships will be taken after all interviews of the candidates from the ENP countries. The application deadline is 1st February, 2014.

Marshal Papworth Scholarships in UK, 2014 (http://marshalpapworth.com/)

Marshal Papworth Trust is offering scholarships for the students of developing countries. The scholarships are available for pursuing postgraduate and a short course programmes like Sustainable Development, Waste Management and International Horticulture. The scholarships are designed to fund the majority of tuition fees, living expenses and travel costs. Application deadline is 24th March 2014.
