Job Title: Principal Pipeline Engineer – Feed

The Job: The appointee will be required to provide pipeline engineering and operations/maintenance expertise and support for all phases of design and execution in terms of concept selection, development of basis for design through construction, commissioning and start-up, ensuring fit-for-purpose pipeline technologies and optimization of NLNG pipeline asset life cycle cost while meeting NLNG's Goal Zero HSE Objectives.

The Duties:

The duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

•   Define and optimize pipeline project concepts providing inputs for development planning and cost/economic screening, identifying major hazards and risks and develop preliminary design basis reflecting design standards and operating/production parameters as well as participating in value assurance reviews, and preparation of project strategic plan.

•   Participate in the preparation of project strategic plans, identification of fit-for-purpose pipeline technologies, and participate in reviews, including independent design reviews (IDR) and value assurance reviews (VAR) while ensuring integration across disciplines and project phases.

•   Design cost effective pipelines taking into account required operating design envelopes, strength, flexibility for crossings, stations and tie-ins, requirements for pipeline emergency shut-down systems, and stability for a safe construction, (pre) commissioning and operation in accordance with the requirements of the applicable legislation, standards, and HSE requirements while ensuring /guaranteeing functional requirements of the pipeline system for capacity, pressure, temperature, and product quality.

•   Design pipelines and gas transmission systems to resist operational, environmental, construction testing/pre-commissioning and operating loads by using different design concepts such as allowable stress, limit state design, and load and resistance design methods in line with relevant codes and standards.

•   Select the optimum pipeline route taking into account current and future transmission and right of way requirements, costs, impact on public safety and environment, third party activities and the required permits/licenses, mitigation measures and compliance to regulatory requirements.

•   Identify, evaluate, and select potential pipeline materials including CRAs, coatings, insulations, and internal liners suitable for their intended use, compatible with the selected construction method(s), resulting in the required reliability and lowest life cycle costs.

The Person:

The right candidate should:

•   Possess a bachelor's degree (minimum of Second Class Upper) in Petroleum, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Chemical and Civil Engineering.

•   Possess a minimum of 12 years post-NYSC experience; out of which minimum of 8 years must have been spent in a pipeline construction, maintenance, engineering, operation or project position and minimum of 4 years in a senior pipeline engineer position in a reputable organization, preferably an Oil & Gas company.
