Title: 2011 ANA/ANYIAM OSIGWE LITERARY JOURNALIST OF THE YEAR PRIZE: CALL FOR ENTRIES

The Association of Nigerian Authors hereby calls for entries for the 2011 ANA/Anyiam Osigwe Literary Journalist Of the Year Prize.

The prize  was instituted in 2004 to stimulate growth and excellence in literary journalism in Nigeria. Since its establishment, the prize has attracted quality entries from practicing literary journalists and has come to be a laurel to look forward to.

Interested literary journalists (print media) are hereby invited to send in their entries based on the following guidelines:

1. Entrants  should submit 10 different articles, features, essays, Interviews, reviews etc culled from a published literary or art pages of any Nigerian newspaper or magazine bearing their by-lines and selected from November 2010 to date to make a valid entry.

2. The selected entries must be spread across the period in view and should reflect a variety of aforementioned literary journalistic pieces.

3.  Each of the 10 pieces must be in four (4) copies.

4.  Care must be taken to ensure that the photocopies are readable, with each page bearing the newspaper or magazine names and dates when the said pieces were published.

5. Entries with a covering letter should be sent to: The General Secretary, ANA, SUITE 63, Entrance B, National Theatre Complex, Iganmu, Lagos, not later than Wednesday, 31st August, 2011.

6. The entries would be assessed by our team of judges made up of distinguished veteran, media, culture and literary personalities on style, flair for balanced reportage, breadth of reported activities in the period under review and their impact on the development of creative writing and the reading culture in the country.

7.  The prize money is N50,000. 00 (fifty thousand naira Only) and the award would be made at the 30th International Annual Convention of the Association scheduled for 26th – 30th October 2011, in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.
