Due to growth a rare opportunity for a confident contracts lawyer, with strong negotiation skills, now exists within Baker Hughes Lagos office. The role will involve travel, within Sub-Sahara Africa/ Nigeria; expected to be 25%.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide legal services related to customer contracts for well related services within an assigned Baker Hughes region of the world.
• Review, draft, and modify customer sale, rental or/or services contracts (including job specific contracts, master service agreements, purchase orders, amendments, pre-bid agreements, letter of intent); as well as integrated operations contracts, subcontractors agreements or letter of intent to comply with company contracting guidelines and governing law, and prepare associated documentation and advice.
• Update contracts database with entries for work performed and review status, and prepares periodic reports.
• Negotiate routine contract revisions with customers.
• Provide basic risk assessments and advice regarding routine contractual risk issues.
• Communicate with division personnel regarding contracting policies, procedures and processes.
• Handle special projects, as assigned.
• May conduct contract training seminars for company sales and marketing personnel and other departments.
• May assist in training new hires in contracts department.
Experience:
• Impressive experience preferably in contract review and negotiation or related legal background. Industry and customers experience preferred.
• Experience in reviewing contracts effectively which are (i) Services, (ii) Rental, Sales and Services, and, (iii) Sales only.
• Experience conducting and concluding email & phone negotiations of the aforementioned contracts.
• Experience promoting a Business Partner approach with Operations.
• Understanding and knowledge of products and services provided by Baker Hughes.
• Knowledge of FCPA, Anti-boycott, Trade Sanctions & Export Controls, is desirable.
• Experience working with internal and external customers as related to contracts administration.
Skill Requirements:
• three years qualified lawyer.
• Understanding of contract law and related legal concepts including practical application in a business environment.
• Fluent English is mandatory.
• Advanced PC Skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented and results focused.
• Strong negotiating skills.
• Understanding of business and cultural environment and customs across assigned region. Ability to work independently and make decisions.
• Commitment to customer service, and to working in a team oriented environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Good interpersonal engagement skills and internal relationships.
