Leiden University offers Scholarship for South African Students in Netherlands. Scholarships are offered for Exchange and Study Abroad students from South Africa who would like to come to Leiden University to pursue their studies for 1 semester. Students are selected on the basis of academic merit, motivation and prospects for future contribution towards the development of South Africa. Application should be submitted till 1st April 2014 for programs starting in September 2014.

-Accepted for a semester program at Leiden University as an exchange or Study Abroad student

-Committed to returning to their country after their study period at Leiden University

Scholarship Description: For Exchange and Study Abroad students from South Africa who would like to come to Leiden University to pursue their studies for 1 semester. The scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of 5 months. On March 12, 1999, his Excellency President Nelson Mandela of South Africa received an Honorary Doctorate from Leiden University, the Netherlands.On receiving the award the President stated that it brought with it both great responsibility and great honour. A greater exchange of students will be enriching for both of our nations. On the one hand it will contribute to the development of our country and the rebirth of our continent. And on the other, we believe contact with the young people of my country will enrich and enlarge the insight that your youth has of your history and I dare say the multi-cultural character of your society.

What does it cover? Scholarship Amount is as follows:

(a) For Exchange students: -International travel costs: €1000

-Living allowance: €800 per month (max. 5 months)

-Insurance: will be sponsored by AON Student Insurance and arranged by Student and Educational Affairs

(b) For Study Abroad Students: -Tuition fee: actual fee

-International travel costs: €1000

-Living allowance: €800 per month (max. 5 months)
