About the role:

•   Nigerdock is organized into four main divisions, namely Projects, Offshore Fabrication including Pressure Vessels, Facilities department which is an internal service provider and a Ship repair yard.

•   Nigerdock are currently looking to hire a Marine Services Manager to support the growth of the Shipyard business.

•   Under the supervision and guidance of the Shipyard General Manager and in accordance with company policy and procedures, the Marine Services Manager will coordinate marine operations and activities. They will also manage marine crews and safety officers daily duties ensuring effective operational compliance by achieving Division aims and objectives.

Responsibilities:

Management:

•   Develop budgets, including P&L, strategy and development of the business to meet changing needs

•   Ensure all Nigerdock marine craft are crewed with qualified operators who operate the craft as per company operations requirements, which are in line with the objectives and procedures as set down in the Maine Safety Manual

•   In conjunction with the Marine Superintendent ensure improvement in the Marine HSE Manual and reduce or eliminate the incidence of accidents

•   Give leadership to the vessel crews, ensuring that any marine related issues are addressed in an appropriate manor

•   Assist in the development and maintenance of all Marine related training activities

Marine Services:

•   Providing operational guidelines, training and mentoring or personnel

•   Ensure Boat reporting forms/checklists are reviewed and fit for purpose

•   Ensure marine crews are fully aware if their responsibilities and set down procedures

•   Review boat/craft daily operational activities (reports)

•   Liaise with the Emergency Management Team to coordinate Emergency Training for the Nigerdock Marine Division acting as an observer at the drill(s) and prepare debrief reports

•   Develop and implement a comprehensive HSE Marine training program using face-to-face modes of delivery

•   Undertaking safety hazards audits/inspections including workspace assessments

Marine Safety:

•   Ensure Maine Safety Manual (HSE) procedures are reviewed at regular intervals

•   Ensures that the latest revision of policies and procedures that affects the health and safety and environment of the marine environment at work is available and cascaded to locations

•   Ensure safety officers at the jetties are capable of implementing the company requirements of the HSE procedures

•   The position would be based on Snake Island, secure self-contained environment (entirely owned by Jagal Group) inclusive of both single status housing, recreational facilities (gym, 5-a-side football pitch, tennis courts and pool etc.), restaurant, clubhouse, Internet, Satellite TV and 24 hour shuttle boat service.

Required Skills/Experience: What we are looking for

•   An experienced Marine Engineer with at least 10 years all round small boat, marina and marine operations management experience

•   Commercially aware

•   Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well with other departments

•   Strong client liaison skills and ability to manage client expectations

•   Culturally aware and adept at operating in a multicultural environment

•   High level of integrity and ethical behavior

Required Qualifications: Technical or professional certification as a minimum

Desired Qualifications:   Bachelors Degree or Diploma

Minimum Experience:   10 years

Maximum Experience:   20 years
