Chevening/African Fellowship Trust is offering up to five 'Africa's Land and Food Fellowship' (ALFF) programme. The ALFF programme offers Scholarships for African students to study at the Royal Agricultural University at Cirencester in the UK, with industrial placements at South Africa's Stellenbosch University. Nationals from sub-Saharan Africa are invited to apply for an Africa's Land and Food Fellowship. Scholarship covers tuition fees, board and accommodation, airfare, incidental costs. Eligibility: Fellowships are offered to Africans mainly from Sub-Saharan Africa who have experience in agriculture, food or natural resource exploitation and management; an interest in land reform; and a desire to make a strategic and sustainable contribution to Africa's development. Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Nationals from the following countries are eligible to apply: Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Scholarship Description: The African Fellowship Trust is a registered UK charity with overview of the 'Africa's Land and Food Fellowship' (ALFF) programme. The ALFF programme offers Scholarships for African students to study at the Royal Agricultural University at Cirencester in the UK, with industrial placements at South Africa's Stellenbosch University. The African Fellowship Trust maintains close contact with Fellows when they return home in order to monitor progress on projects and careers, to act as mentors and to evaluate impacts on communities and business. Chevening Scholarships has partnered with the African Fellowship Trust to provide up to five awards each year. Scholars study either an MSc in International Rural Development or an MSc in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security at the Royal Agricultural University. Key elements of the courses include: networking with key individuals and organisations in Europe and Africa; industrial secondments organized by the Standard Bank Centre for Agri-business Leadership and Mentorship Development at Stellenbosch University in South Africa; development planning workshops to design and cost potential projects for implementation, with mentoring from the Royal Agricultural University.

What does it cover? Scholarships cover tuition fees, board and accommodation, flights to and from the UK and South Africa, provision for networking and a short industrial placement mainly in South Africa under the guidance of Stellenbosch University. Scholarships also cover incidental costs whilst in the UK and on placement in South Africa; however, applicants are advised that funding does not include provision for home and family costs.

Selection Criteria: Chevening Scholarships are for high-calibre graduates with the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership. You will need to demonstrate that you:

• have the personal, intellectual and interpersonal qualities necessary for leadership in your home country;

• are motivated to develop your career in order to establish a position of leadership in your own country within 10 years of your Scholarship;

• have a clear post-Scholarship plan, outlining your career objectives and how you plan to achieve them;

• are committed to networking to find global solutions;

• are committed to networking within the Chevening community, via online engagement and attending Chevening events in the UK and engaging with the alumni network in your home country;

• are able to use your studies and experience in the UK to benefit yourself, your country and the UK;

• are capable of successfully undertaking and completing your proposed course of study in the UK.
