Job Title: MIDWIFERY ADVISOR
Location: Kano

MNCH Program aims to address the high rate of maternal and newborn mortality in some Northern Nigerian States.

This position will be based in Kano and will provide technical support and advice to programme activities in the operating states and in the following areas;

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
•          Strengthening Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care in targeted health facilities.
•          Providing focused based ANC, PNC and Family Planning.
•          Advocacy in influencing policy change in the Health Sector.
•          Designing, developing, facilitating and implementing Capacity Building Programmes to increase the availability and performance of Skilled Birth Attendants.
•          Ensuring International best practice in midwifery is brought to the Programme.
•          Assisting with drafting of Terms of Reference and quality assurance reports.

Qualified candidates should possess the following:
•          Candidates must be midwives with a minimum of 10 years experience in Safe Motherhood and Neonatal Health Programmes within Africa.
•          S/he must possess a post-graduate qualification in any one of Public Health, Reproductive Health or other related disciplines in the Health or Medical sciences.
•          S/he must have an extensive knowledge and understanding of operations in the Nigerian Healthcare delivery system.
•          A good knowledge of capacity building tools (training), good communication and organizational skills are essential for this position.
•          Previous work experience within the Nigerian Health sector will be an added advantage.
