Crick-LRI PhD Studentships for International Students in UK, 2014

London Research Institute (LRI) offers four year PhD studentships to join the new Crick-LRI PhD Programme in September 2014. These studentships are awarded for research into the basic biology of cancer at one of the Crick partner universities: King's College London, Imperial College London or University College London; and transfer into the Crick with their research group in 2015 or 2016. Successful applicants will be awarded a non-taxable annual stipend of £21,000 plus payment of University tuition fees. The application deadline is 14th November 2013.

Study Subject(s): Studentships are awarded for research into the basic biology of cancer. The researchers take multi-disciplinary approaches to address fundamental questions in the areas of genome integrity and cell cycle, cellular regulatory mechanisms and thebiology of tumours and tissues.

Course Level: Studentships are available for pursuing PhD degree level at one of the Crick partner universities: King's College London, Imperial College London or University College London; and transfer into the Crick with their research group in 2015 or 2016.

Eligibility: The university is looking for talented and motivated recent graduates or final year undergraduates, with backgrounds in biological sciences, physics, mathematics, computer science and/or chemistry who have decided that they want to do a PhD and:

-have or expect to gain a first/upper second-class honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject;

-have laboratory or research experience (either as part of or outside of a university degree course);

-are able to satisfy the English language requirements for Graduate Study of the Partner University that they register at

Scholarship Open for International Students: Students of all nationalities can apply for Crick-LRI studentships. Students who will be classified as 'overseas' for University tuition fees are not eligible for the Crick-LRI/King's College London and Crick-LRI/Imperial College London joint studentships.

Many of our former PhD students now head their own successful research laboratories at research institutes and universities throughout the world. Students joining the 2014 Crick-LRI PhD programme will either be funded by a Cancer Research UK Crick-LRI Studentship, or a joint Crick-LRI/King's College London or Crick-LRI/Imperial College London studentship.
