The lesser of two evils is still an evil. If you think you may be in an abusive relationship, here are some things to think about.
1. Assess the situation with a clear head: If you have low self-esteem, this is especially tough, and especially important. If you have a habit of falling in love with abusers, you probably need to be alone for a while to work on your self-image.
2. Look for the following signs: lying about major things (other women, etc.); secrecy (won't take you out in public, won't acknowledge you); ridicule of your personal traits (attitudes, appearance, etc.) or beliefs; withholding of affection as punishment; sabotaging your attempts of achieving a goal he knows about, i.e. often bringing home fast food when you're dieting, messing up something he knows took you hours to make/ clean/ cook, coming home and saying he already ate when he knows you were making a fancy dinner etc.
Tips:
a. If it feels wrong, it's probably wrong.
b. Try to talk to him about it. If he won't, you may have to leave.
c. Women with abusive fathers often seek out abusers so that they can "finally make it right". It d. just doesn't work that way. The only way you can make it right is by getting away
