International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards in UK, 2014/15

Applications are invited for International Science and Engineering Excellence Awards for international students in 2014. The awards are available for pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate degree level at Queen Mary University of London in UK. These are partial awards only and are not cumulative. Students will be awarded £2,000 OR £5,000 per year deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the College. Students must be able to finance the remainder of their tuition fees and living expenses. Application deadline is 15th January 2014.

Study Subject (s): Awards are provided within in the School of Biological and Chemical Sciences, School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science and School of Engineering and Materials Science (excluding MSc Dental Materials (J5S9)) and School of Physics and Astronomy offered by the Queen Mary University of London in UK.

Eligibility: -Candidate must be from a non-EU country and be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees;

-You must not be in receipt of any other College scholarship or full-fee scholarship from any other source, eg, Chevening;

-If you are currently following the Queen Mary International Science and Engineering Foundation Programme (ISEFP) and plan to continue your studies in Science and Engineering at Queen Mary you will also be considered for these awards as follows:

-If you are awarded a Distinction (an overall average of 70 per cent or more) for the ISEFP Foundation Certificate you may receive an award of £5,000 per year for each year of your undergraduate studies;

-If you are awarded a Merit (overall average of 65-69 per cent) or Pass (overall average of 40-64 per cent) for the ISEFP Foundation Certificate you may receive an award of £2,000 per year for each year of your undergraduate studies;

-These are partial awards only and are not cumulative. You will be awarded £2,000 OR £5,000 per year deducted directly from tuition fees payable to the College. You must be able to finance the remainder of your tuition fees and living expenses;

-Receipt of award for the first year is automatic for all those with the requisite entry qualifications described above;

-For continuing students who attained a Higher Award on entry: payment in subsequent years is contingent on overall academic achievement at upper second class standard in each year of study (i.e. you must achieve an overall mark of 60 per cent in every year to maintain the award);

-For continuing students who attained a Standard Award on entry: payment in subsequent years is contingent on meeting the standard progression requirements;

-Confirmation of award in years 2, 3 or 4 will be provided to the Fees Office by the Faculty of Science and Engineering and will be shown on your invoice which you will receive by post and email in August. Final decisions rest with the Vice-Principal (Science and Engineering);

-Students who have queries regarding their academic achievement for the year should contact their School;

-Where a student experiences extenuating circumstances that affect academic performance or progress, continued receipt of an award will be considered within the College's existing extenuating circumstances procedures.

Scholarship Description: In recognition of the important investment that overseas students are making in their education, Queen Mary offers the 'Inter national Science and Engineering Excellence Awards' (for students in the Schools of Biological & Chemical Sciences, Electronic Engineering & Computer Science, Engineering & Materials Science, and Physics & Astronomy) and the 'International Mathematical Sciences Excellence Awards' (for students in the School of Mathematical Sciences). The scholarships are designed to reward academic achievement and help attract the brightest and best Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate Taught (PGT) students from overseas.

Scholarship Application Deadline:There is no need to complete a separate application form to be considered for either Scheme. You will be considered for a scholarship on the basis of the information you provide in your UCAS or online application to Queen Mary (UCAS deadline is 15th January 2014).
