Job Objective/ Purpose of Job:   

Responsible for management of Crude Oil allocation and lifting and all Company Tax Matters from preparation of timely and accurate reports to Management in Nigeria and Nigerian Government i.e. Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), to analysing and responding to claims from tax authorities.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

Functionally Reports To: Director, Business and Commercial

Administratively Reports To: Director, Business and Commercial

Supervises: Tax and lifting groups consisting of nine employees

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: All departments in Nigeria, APS, Oil and gas (Traders)

External: NAPIMS,COMD, FIRS (Lagos & Abuja), DPR, NDDC and OPTS, LIRS and other State tax authorities

Job Duties/ Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

1.   Crude oil pricing computation and administration – negotiate and secure liftings with NNPC/COMD

2.   Ensure timely preparation and filing of estimated and final PPT returns with FIRS on due dates i.e. February 28 and May 31, respectively.

3.   Ensure monthly tax returns are prepared and issued and advice management of liability.

4.   Ensure all the PSC accounting schedules are accurately prepared and timely filed on NNPC.

5.   Ensure that Profit Oil entitlements for both the company and NNPC are accurately determined.

6.   Coordinate with and assist FIRS and NNPC Auditors in the fulfilment of their duties i.e. tax audit and cost verification exercise.

7.   Responsible for estimating monthly royalties for all the producing fields as well as preparing actual monthly royalties based on reconciled production.

8.   Coordinate lifting activities with COMD and the Company/UNIPEC Trading group

9.   Interface with Group Functional personnel.

10.   Ensure quality and accurate reports from Commercial Department and also meeting deadlines for the department's work processes

11.   Reviewing and addressing all tax claims from tax authorities

12.   Manage, train and motivate subordinate staff as well as safeguarding company assets.

13.   Company representative on OPTS Tax matters

14.   Member of the Business Services Leadership Team

Key Performance Indicators/ Performance Goals:

1.   Ensure tax estimates and final tax returns are filed as and when due and in line with the PPT law.

2.   Ensure timely (monthly and quarterly) reconciliation of cost recovery and crude oil lifting allocation and entitlement with NNPC-COMD

3.   Effective liaison with the Company/UNIPEC Trading group and NNPC-COMD to ensure smooth allocation of crude and scheduling of lifting activities.

Financial Dimensions:

•   Responsible for Taxes of over $1.5 billion paid each year and similar on claims.

Education Qualification: Chartered Accountant and related Bachelor degree

Professional Qualification: MBA or similar level in related discipline (Finance, Economics, Tax, etc) preferred

Experience: 15+ years E&P experience, including 5+ in a senior management role
