Eligibility: -The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences has a strategic ambition of being a leading research faculty. Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials. -Applicants must hold a PhD-degree (or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree) and, document solid experience in marine fish genomics. Extensive knowledge of different sequencing technologies and especially next-generation sequencing, including laboratory methods, is required. Further, the candidate should be able to document hands-on experience with phylogenomics and comparative immunology with emphasis on the major histocompatibility complex (MHC), as well as experience with bioinformatic analysis of genomic data sets and interpretation of such results. In addition, knowledge of important Norwegian marine teleost species and fieldwork practice will be an advantage. -The candidate will work in close collaboration with the rest of the project team at CEES as well as our national and international partners (United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland and Canada). We seek a highly motivated, enthusiastic person with the ambition to gain insight in marine evolutionary genomics and publish papers in leading, international journals, and in possession of good interpersonal skills and willingness to work in close collaboration with others. The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines. Scholarship Description: A 2 and a half year position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow in marine fisn genomcs is available at the Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES), Department of Biosciences, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The Postdoctoral fellow will be part of an international team working on the project entitled "Functional and comparative immunology of a teleost's world without MHC II (ComparaCod)" funded by the Research Council of Norway (RCN) under the FRIMEDBIO-programme. The position will be affiliated to CEES (www.cees.uio.no), a national centre of excellence (CoE), situated at the Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo.
