In what will be the one if the largest prizes ever offered at a hackathon, Salesforce (http://www.salesforce.com/) will be awarding $1 million to the winning hacker(s) at the Dreamforce (http://www.salesforce.com/dreamforce/DF13/) conference next month.
At the inaugural Salesforce $1 Million Hackathon (http://blogs.developerforce.com/developer-relations/2013/10/salesforce-one-million-dollar-hackathon.html), the cloud computing company hopes to encourage developers to create a next generation killer app for the Salesforce Platform. As a further incentive, participating developers will enjoy a heavily discounted pass to Dreamforce, the company's annual San Francisco conference.
This is not the largest prize purse offered in a hackathon; the Launch Hackathon event that's also in November is awarding $1.6 million in investments ... to two winners.
