Job description: As part of a multi-disciplinary operations team, the Production Technologist is responsible for achieving life cycle production targets, economic and contractual and reservoir management objectives, and monitoring, evaluation and optimization of production. He/she liaises with third parties and other Company Segments to design & coordinate activities & resources. Plans and supervises routine and most non-routine well intervention operations. Supports Asset team on field development planning and maintenance. Capable of developing production and completion strategy, production forecasts, budgets, identification/implementation of new technologies.
Key Accountabilities:
• Monitors & evaluates Well/Field performances and recommends remedial and/or enhancement activities for optimum ultimate recovery.
• Performs analysis of technical data and studies, including well tests, production performance, PLT, PVT data and assist with reservoir modelling and simulation
• Provides detailed workover/well re-entry requirements.
• Prepares Well Intervention Proposals
• Liaises with Operations & Facilities Engineers on troubleshooting and de-bottlenecking in production systems.
• Defines the life cycle based well completion designs.
• Performs tubing design & analysis.
• Determines the optimum production system and delivers conceptual design and surface facility design and operating envelopes
• Evaluates the performance of the existing systems and makes recommendations for improvements.
• Analyzes and defines the cause of well performance failures and generates candidates for productivity enhancement
• Proposes & designs preventative and remedial activities
• Provides cost data for financial modelling – hardware costs, installation costs, operating, workover and maintenance estimates.
• Provides an assessment of safety and environmental impact for all recommendations.
• Defines the most appropriate artificial lift system for a particular field and to provide the basic design.
• Analyze efficiency of Reservoir Pressure Maintenance, EOR and proposes corrections & improvements.
• Provides key link between development planning, well construction and production operations
• Interfaces between the various disciplines in Exploitation function and Well Construction, Operations in order to:
• Optimize field production
• Optimize Well Designs
• Ensure the integrity of the remedial and workover activities
• Ensure the appropriate Petroleum engineering Input to Well Management & Maintenance Planning.
• Ensure that key technical risks and uncertainties are assessed.
• Ensures Proper communication with relevant parties (Client, segments, third parties, etc.)
• Identifies opportunities to develop and use new technologies to enhance production
• Maintains an industry watch in Completions and Production Technology, which could contribute to Company business.
• Builds and maintains good relationships with third party suppliers of key completions technology.
• Identifies areas justifying R & D investment .
QHSE:
• Ensures the application of Company quality and safety standards.
• Ensures application of Company QHSE Management System through his/her work.
• Ensures QHSE risks are addressed in completion design and production operations
• Understands the legislative requirements,
• Ensures compliance to Company Standards and Procedures
• Performs Decision & Risk Analysis for all proposed activities
• Participates in Company & Project Internal Audits
PLANNING:
• Prepares/Supervises preparation of short and long-term production plan
• Contributes to development of Operating Philosophy/Plan
• Contributes to FDP
• Leads daily or monthly Operations Meetings
• Determines manpower/other resource requirements to meet Project Goals
• Ensures planning & coordination of Well Intervention, Completion & Production enhancement activates
PERFORMANCE & COST MONITORING:
• Develops & Monitors Daily/Monthly Production Reports
• Prepares costing for completion & well interventions and performs economic analysis
• Approves Invoices
• Participates in the development of Production Budget
Requirements:
• Bachelor degree in Petroleum Engineering (Master Degree preferable)
• 10-15 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of Real-time monitoring / optimization projects
• Well intervention programs
• Production technology techniques, Artificial lift design tools, production optimization, water management
• Strong understanding of inflow and outflow performance relationship
• Use of PROSPER, GAP and other production optimization software
