Job description:
• Updates management on current legislation, regulatory issues and legal risks;
• Participates in formulating corporate policies to ensure legal & regulatory compliance;
• Reviews, evaluates and advises on all contractual arrangements & legal agreements between the Group and other parties;
• Determines areas requiring external legal support and liaises with legal advisers to protect the Group's corporate interests;
• Renders advice on issues relating to corporate governance and compliance with the Group's code of ethics;
• Maintains statutory books & records for all Group companies and ensures periodic returns are filed with the relevant regulatory authorities promptly;
• Organises and attends all Board & Shareholder Meetings, for companies within the Group, as Company Secretary;
• Assists in developing plans & strategies for managing the Group's relationship with various levels of government;
• Assists in facilitating government approvals, exemptions, licenses and permits for Group operations;
• Renders advice on and vets all forms of internal & external communication, prior to official release, to minimize the risk of ambiguity/conflict and possible exposure to litigation;
• Catalogues and organises custody of title deeds & other important legal documents of the Group.
Qualification:
• First Degree in Law
• Member of Nigerian Bar Association. Membership of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administrators will be an added advantage.
• 3- 5 years relevant work experience in a reputable law firm.
• Minimum of 2 years experience within the legal department of a large organization
