The Agricultural University of Athens (http://www.aua.gr) (AUA) is an evolution of the Highest College of Agriculture of Athens (H.C.A.A.). The H.C.A.A., as it was originally named, was the culmination of attempts for systematic agricultural education in Greece which go back to the period of the Kapodistrias administration when a Model Farm was founded at Tyrintha in 1829.
In the Marie Curie Initial Training Networks, LeanGreenFood, Chemistry Laboratory, Agricultural University of Athens seeks aPhD student to develop fluidic analysers. The aim of the LeanGreenFood projectis to reduce the chemical treatment in the production of the food and foodingredients by utilizing enzymatic catalysis in the process. The specificobjectives of the present PhD study are the development of automated fluidicanalytical technologies for the determination of enzymatic hydrolysis productssuch as oligosaccharides and monosaccharides. Methods aim at quality assessmentof output and possibly input in enzymatic hydrolysis processes. Automatedmethods to be developed will be based on sequential- and/or flow-injection,lab-on-valve fluidic principles, while detection will depend on differentprinciples such as DAD, chemi- or bio-luminescence, fluorimetry etc.
Qualifications: Candidates should have a master's degree in food chemistry, chemistry, or a similar degree. Programming knowledge will be appreciated.
Approval and Enrolment: The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the degree programs of AUA.
Salary and appointment terms: We offer a full-time position for a period of one year with possibility of extension to three years.
