Title: Aluu killings: NBA warns FG not to stop prosecution of suspects

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ikeja branch, on Tuesday, called on both the Federal and Rivers State governments not to allow the prosecution of the alleged murderers of the four students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), who were killed in Omuokiri-Aluu, near Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to be swept under the carpet.
NBA made the assertion at a press conference with the theme: "Nigerian's hobbesian state of nature...A portent of coming tragedy,"  at the bar centre in the premises of the Magistrates' Court.
Speaking on behalf of the body, the first Vice Chairman, Mr Adesina Ogunlana, also condemned the October 1,  attack on a student's hostel in Mubi, Adamawa State, which claimed the lives of about 24 students.
"Most Nigerians know that their country is farfrom being healthy and in reality, it is not a good place to live in a statehood that the ordinary  citizen could be proud of.
"What made the Omuokiri-Aluu killings more outrageous, despite the fewer number of killings, is because it was utterly barbaric. Thekillers were not faceless, or few, but a community of lynch mob.
"The lynching was partly recorded on video and broadcast to the whole world via internet," he said.
Adesina, who represented the chairman, Mr Monday Ubani, maintained that the culture of lynching seemed to have been entrenched in Nigeria, adding that it was not only done by irate mob, but by uninformed killers.
He noted that the country had always been ruled by those he described as Philistines andwicked kleptomaniacs, who loot and convert to their use or waste the wealth and resources of the country.
