Title: Opinion: Presidential Abuse of Power
Post by: Jobbers on Mar 06, 2012, 04:33 PM
The power to order military intervention or clamp down on internal issues should be vested wit the National Assembly with the final approval of the president.

The president should not have the constitutional right of order military to prevent citizens from exercising their constitutional right without the approval of the National Assembly.

The deployment of military during the national protest on fuel subsidy is a clear example of the abuse of the presidential power to the use of military on internal affairs and this must be prevented.

Military are to protect the sate sovereignty and not interfere with internal issue such as confronting the state citizens, and the power to give them such order should pass through the National Assembly.
