Lagos – Nsikak Etim, the country's second-ranked scrabble player, on Wednesday said Nigeria would triumph at the Africa Scrabble Championship scheduled for Nov. 20 to Nov. 26 in Zambia.

Etim  in Lagos said that the country has won the championship eight times and was fully prepared to win again at the impending 10th edition.

He said that the proposed camping for the top 12 scrabble players would spur them to perform well at the championship.

"I am very optimistic that we shall win the competition again with the crop of quality scrabble players in the country.

"I am fully prepared to represent the country and to make the nation proud. The camping will also help the invited players to sharpen their skills.

The Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF) has invited the top 12 scrabble players in the country to a camp from Nov. 10 to Nov. 19 in Abuja, ahead of the championship

Etim, who is also the African number nine scrabble player, said he was hopeful of being selected among the five players to represent the country in the competition.

"I am looking beyond Nigeria and I am also confident that I will be one of he five selected players to represent the country,'' he said.

The country won the last edition of the championship which was hosted by Ghana in 2010. (NAN)
